Laura Rowitz is a doctoral student and researcher of Middle Eastern Studies based in Bern, Switzerland. Trained in Islamic Studies, she currently explores the legal history of the kafāla with a geographical focus on the Levant and Egypt. Her research interests compriselabor, social history, legal regimes of dependency, and the history of Middle Eastern Studies.
