Alberto Tondello holds a PhD in English Literature from University College London. In 2022, Alberto was awarded a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship to work on a project titled ‘Inhospitable Modernisms’ at the University of Edinburgh and Bern. His current project reconsiders the notion of inhospitality from a social and environmental perspective, analysing how characters at the fringe of society deals with inhospitable environments in the works of Djuna Barnes, Nella Larsen, Jean Rhys, and James Joyce. As he develops his new project, Alberto is writing a first monograph drawn from his PhD project and provisionally titled Forms of Materiality in James Joyce.
