Susanne Leuenberger studied science of religion, Islamic studies and philosophy in Berne and Cairo (1999-2005). Since 2008 she is a doctoral student at the Institute of Science of Religion at Berne University and a Graduate at the Institute of Advanced Studies in the Humanities and the Social Sciences (IASH) at Berne University. She is currently finishing her PhD (funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation SNF) on Swiss converts to Islam as public figures in the Swiss Muslim debate. Her primary research interests lie in the fields of Religious Conversion, secularity, immigration, Islamophobia, discourse analysis, theories of performativity, ritual theories.
