Eva-Maria Müller is a PhD candidate at the English department at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany, member of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), the International PhD Programme “Literary and Cultural Studies” (IPP) as well as speaker of the Research Group Oikos; a team of researchers who are interested in relating literary and cultural studies to environmental studies.
Her dissertation examines the relationship between literature and mountain tourism in the Rocky Mountains and European Alps, and analyses how literature has triggered and resisted flows of travelers to alpine regions. She is currently interested in postcolonial literature from Canada, contemporary Austrian literature, travel writing, and environmental history. Her research is supported by the GCSC, IPP, the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research, and the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies.
She holds a master degree in English and Biology from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and was recently awarded a research fellowship from the University of Alberta, Canada.
