Nadia Radwan

Photo on 02-09-15 at 16.07 (3)Nadia Radwan is an art historian specialized in modern art in the Middle East, who obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Geneva in 2013. She is currently Assistant Professor of World Art History at the University of Bern, where she is also the director of the doctoral program Global Studies of the Walter Benjamin Kolleg. In 2014, she was Assistant Professor of Art History at the American University in Dubai. Her research focuses on Egyptian modernism and transcultural interactions between the Middle East and Europe. More recently, she has been working on curatorial practices and heritagization in the United Arab Emirates. Radwan is the author of articles about Egyptian modern art and architecture and has contributed to several exhibition catalogues. Her book entitled Les Modernes d’Egypte: une Renaissance des Beaux-Arts et des Arts Appliqués will be published in 2016.

Nadia Radwan ist Kunsthistorikerin spezialisiert auf moderne Kunst im Nahen Osten. Sie hat ihr Doktorat an der Universität Genf im Jahre 2013 erworben. Zurzeit ist sie Assistenzprofessorin für World Art History an der Universität Bern, wo sie auch die Direktorin des Global Studies Doktoratsprogramms des Walter Benjamin Kollegs ist. Im Jahre 2014 war sie an der American University in Dubai als Assistenzprofessorin für Kunstgeschichte tätig. Ihr Forschungsschwerpunkt ist ägyptische Moderne Kunst und transkulturelle Zusammenhänge zwischen dem Nahen Osten und Europa. Sie arbeitet auch auf kuratorischen Praktiken und Denkmalpflege in den Vereinigten Arabischen Staaten. Nadia Radwan ist die Autorin von Artikeln über ägyptische moderne Kunst und Architektur und hat zu mehreren Ausstellungskatalogen beigetragen. Ihr Buch mit dem Titel Les Modernes d’ Egypte: une Renaissance des Beaux-Arts et des Arts Appliqués wird im Jahr 2016 veröffentlicht.
