Claire Brizon obtained her master degree in Museology at the University of Lyon in 2005. She then worked for the Musée des Confluences (Lyon), where she was involved in the conception of exhibitions, particularly those that dealt with pacific material culture. Concurrently, she studied public and private ethnographic collections from Pacific Islanders, focusing her research on the methods and reasons for collecting, the collectors’ profiles, and missionaries’ activities as collectors. One part of her research is a chapter in collective book Objets des Terres Lointaines, about the ethnographic missionary collection of the Oeuvre de la Propagation de la Foi.
