Mariana Pinto is an objects conservator and a PhD candidate within the ERC-funded project ‘ARTECHNE: Technique in the Arts, 1500-1950: Concepts, Practices, Expertise’. Her research aims to understand the influences between Materials Science and Conservation practice through the study of pigment analyses in the long nineteenth century. She graduated as art historian by the University of Buenos Aires and she holds an MSc in Conservation by the University College London. Her dissertation was focused on the analysis of historical pigments of an Al-Andalus wooden beam displayed in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar.
