Andrin Uetz studied musicology and philosophy at the University of Basel. He is working on his dissertation on the aural cityscape of Hong Kong, in which he plans to examine the quarter of Sai Ying Pun as example for a super dense living space. Focusing on the connection between vertical architecture, urban structures and sound, he combines different approaches such as anthropology, sociology, philosophy and aural history. He has a close relation to Hong Kong also because of concert activity with his pop-band Europa: Neue Leichtigkeit that played there in 2012 as well as 2014. His dissertation is entitled “Soundscape of Density. Architecture, Space and Sound in Sai Ying Pun”, with research interests in Sound Studies, Aural History, Ethnomusicology, Sociology, Urban Studies and Architecture.
