Dorothy is writing a Ph.D. entitled ‘The Relationship between the West and ‘Oriental’ carpets since 1840: Re-making, Re-purposing and Re-imagining’ in the Victoria and Albert Museum/Royal College of Art History of Design Programme, where she also teaches the MA course in Material Histories of Asia as a visiting lecturer. Before she joined the Victoria and Albert Museum/ Royal College of Art, she studied Islamic Art at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. Her first degree was in English Literature from the University of Cambridge. Dorothy is one of this year’s two Abdullah al Mubarak al Sabah/ British Society for Middle Eastern Studies scholars.
