Ruth Katharina Kopp

Ruth Katharina Kopp studied translation and interpretation at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and at the University of Lisbon (Portugal) as holder of a scholarship. She worked five years as undergraduate assistant to the full professor for translation studies and director of the Portuguese Department at the Institut für Übersetzen und Dolmetschen of the University of Heidelberg. After that she held several positions in different international industrial and consulting companies as a translator, a human resources specialist with a focus on personnel development, as a manager for international IT formation projects and as an assistant to the top management of a global manufacturer and distributor of floor coverings.

Publications and lectures: Lectures about the role of translation as an ethical issue in international companies and its implications for good corporate governance, reviews of new works on translation studies and critical thoughts about the state of translation studies in Western Europe within the frame of the Bologna Process.

At present she works as a self-employed translator and as a lecturer at SRH Heidelberg. In addition she is a member of the Heidelberger Graduiertenschule für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften at the University of Heidelberg and works on a PhD thesis in translation studies with a special focus on business ethics and translation ethics.

Ruth Katharina Kopp is a participant of the Winter School 2012.
