Rachel Barber, originally from New York, lives currently in Guadalajara, Mexico, and is pursuing a graduate degree in Communication Studies at the Universidad de Guadalajara. In her project on the emerging taste for Mexican folk art among American migrants in Chapala, home to the largest American retirement community in the world, she explores processes of adaptation in migrant communities and use documentary film techniques to capture the significance that folk art plays in cross-cultural interactions.
