Sophie Halart is an art historian and Assistant Professor at the Institute of Aesthetics, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She holds a PhD in Art History from University College London, an MA in Culture Industry from Goldsmiths College and a BA in Art History and English Literature from the University of York. She is the co- editor with Mara Polgovsky Ezcurra of Sabotage Art: Politics and Iconoclasm in Contemporary Latin America recently re-published by Bloomsbury Press (2022). Halart’s current research interests deal with feminism and maternity in the Southern Cone and, more recently, with the articulation of new artistic methodologies in the face of climate change in contemporary Chile. During the academic year 2022/2023, she will be undertaking a FIAS Research Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Studies of Nantes, France, working on a research examining the methodological and ethical challenges associated with environmental-oriented creative practices in contemporary Chile.
