I am Jasmina Rejec, a Junior Researcher and a doctoral student at the University of Ljubljana, currently enrolled in an Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences. As a Junior Researcher at the Digital Humanities Centre, at the Institute IRRIS for Research, Development, and Strategies of Society, Culture, and Environment, I work under the supervision of Dr. Polona Tratnik. My previous academic background is a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities.
I am interested in History, Cultural studies, Folkloristics, and Digital Humanities. In my research, I explore the sociocultural dynamics that contribute to the popularity and significance of specific folk tales within Slovenia. My approach involves collecting and digitising folk tales, systematic documentation, and using advanced computational tools to identify patterns, themes, and motifs. This interdisciplinary method enables me to understand the cultural identity presented through different motifs in folk tales. My research also addresses the challenges and opportunities within folklore archiving and digital humanities. I integrate qualitative assessments to ensure a deeper and more research-oriented understanding.
In addition to my research, I have previous and active experience in editorial activities for monographs and scientific articles, as well as substantial experiences in museum curatorship with active membership in several professional networks and working groups, including TICCIH and the Section for Technical Heritage Slovenia.
